HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hi,

Seems like forever since I've written cause with Fiber Festival and the Spin In we've been swamped.

Fiber Festival is so great.  Lots of new people and old friends and woolly critters and pretty stuff.

I have been spinning every day since - The Spin In was great too - If folks want we can do that one more....just let me know.

I dressed up today - kind of scarey, Denelle did too. That was fun, but the wig is hot.

I don't have the schedule up for December yet, but will soon.  There will be a few less classes - except for beginning & intermediate knitting - just cause everyone is so busy for the holidays.

That reminds me... We are doing something different for the holidays this year - a red scarf tree. There's an organization that sends care packages to orphans and foster kids who are going off to college.  They often have no one and don't get homemade gifts all that much. For the Valentine's Day care package they would like to include a hand made red scarf for everyone.  I'll write more about this in days to come. So hopefully we can overload the tree with scarves and I will send them off the first of January.

Knit Simple

A1 is here.  There are some really great holiday patterns in this one.....

I Love Suri Merino

Here's what I have been doing the last couple of days....

Aa_002 Okay, it isn't the same color as the one on the cover of Interweave Knits, but it is out of Suri Merino and I love it.   I am now starting on the body and I did lengthen the sleeve a little.  Given it to do over I think I would go with yellow where the red is, but keep all the other colors.  This is so much fun I can't put it down -I have even not woven anything since Sunday.  I did do "Fetching" from Knitty.com on Saturday afternoon - finished them (last two or three rows) on Sunday afternoon...They are easy and very soft in Karaoke (soysilk & wool).  The picture is in recent projects.

This Yarn is Awesome

Stuff_002 This is a scarf from Misty Mountain Farms Yarn that Denelle made.....she said it was a dream to knit with and blocked almost by itself.  This scarf was made with one skein.   And though I am still weaving a lot! I knitted a hat yesterday and felted it last night.....it is still a little wet.  It is out of Iceland and ChinchillaStuff_003 - free pattern available on Crystal Palace's website or here with yarn purchase.

Did You Know...

...That Shakespeare mentions knitting 38 times in his plays...but only twice does it actually mean the kind of knitting we do.....

...That the earliest knitting found is from the grave of a woman in The Netherlands sometime in the second century...the gauge was incredibly small....

...That there's a comments section on the blog and we welcome comments........even though it is in very small print.

...That in November The Knaughty Knitter will be ONE YEAR OLD! Look for specials and fun things happening.

T Shirts Are Here

We've got T shirts with the Knaughty Knitter on 'em!  The back says Life is too Short to Knit with Ugly Yarn! and they are adorable.....Comes in Pink or White,  sizes small to extra large.

Tees

Still gone weaving crazy....next is a swatch basket scarf with left overs from the many swatches at the store....ought to be wild.  And that reminds me.  We've gathered the swatches in one place so you can see different yarns at once.  Got this idea (sort of) from the store in Venezia where they had a big ring with all the swatches on it.  Ours is on the wall above the magazines.

We are overflowing again...

There's a couple of huge boxes that I haven't even been able to get through yet.....more colors of that luscious Baby Alpaca Grande and Suri Merino and Encore and new books...I am out of baskets already.   One thing has to go so its on special this week.....Feza Monet - a thick & thin very fun acrylic in turquoise, blue and maroon - all of it is 35% off.....this week only.   It would make a fun scarf or even a vest........

It's the Great Christmas Broccoli, Charlie Brown!

I've lost my knitting mojo, and it can't be found! What else to do but cast on for something simple, fast, and fun? So I started a Christmas stocking in Cascade 220 in a cheery red and green with christmas-y "Popcorn" yarn for some texture! Here's a photo of the baby swatch, known as the "Christmas Broccoli" and its parent, the pre-felted  stocking!

Broccoli

I'm writing up the pattern as I go along (it's very easy) so if you'd like a felted stocking for any ol' reason, we've got the pattern and a multitude of colors and textures to choose from!

Weaving and Knitting, Oh My...

Here's the first weaving...made from purple and black artyarn that just happened to stripeScarf2 , and cascade indulgence and that purple sequiny stuff too.  It sparkles....and then there's the scarf from opal (and suri merino and ggh mohair)

Loom2 Since the first weaving class is full...the next one is all day December 2nd........

I've still been knitting too.  I finished the hand dyed cashmere gauntlets and they are like wearing butter....so soft.   And the seascape shawl - row 67 is next - in ten more rows I can start a new pattern.  But since I finished one thing I need to start the sweater on the cover  this month's Knitters.

Looms are here....and...

Loom The looms have arrived....with books....I can't wait to get started.  The first class is full already but depending on how fast I can get some samples made there will be another one......before Christmas....And if you have a group of three or more who want to take it we can arrange a time.

Also this week is the last chance to sign up for Denelle's "My First Sweater" Class and Bronwyn's Fearless Lace class.  By the way the Seascape Shawl Knitalong has started but there's still time if you want to join us....So far we have Meredith, Bronwyn, Rachel, Anne, Darlene, & Jamie.  I am almost through the second layer of cone shells (row 60 or so).  It is getting close to the time when a row is a commitment...but I am enjoying it (in pale blue Drops Alpaca).
