Finishing Fever

Bronwyn has finishing fever and I am tring to get it too.   I am about to finish the giant purse and Bronwyn finished a lace scarf in silk.  What's next?  A cape in Boku...and a fair isle hat in Jamieson - for every thing I finish I tend to start 3 more.  So how about coming in Friday afternoon for a Finishing Party?  Tomorrow only from 12-6.  Finish something at the store and get 10% off your next pattern and yarn.

Felt Frenzy

Is a new book that just came in and oh my......what a mess I am going to make in the kitchen tonight.  I just made up some wonderful fiber batts that I thought I would spin - but maybe they need to be a wrap...........Vogue is here too.  And I was thinking of adding Spin In to the magazines...Any feedback on that?  Anyone want that?

Our phone is ....well... having issues... so if you can't reach the store, please try again  later - sorry about that...

And there is sheep shawl group tonight from 5 -6....Abby is way past all of us....(I am only on row 50 or so).

Seduction Silk Yarn

It is aptly named.   100% silk yarn - hand dyed & dk weight - in amazing colors.  310 yards...you gotta feel this.....I found this company at the Fiber Festival in Montgomery Bell park yesterday and had to have it.  They didn't even tags on it yet - those are coming by mail later.   I also brought back some dyeable cashmere.....And yes the Fiber Festival is still going on today and I think tomorrow too.

Presents...

That UPS guy....he just keeps bringing things.....Crystal Palace sent sort of a mini trunk show - only the patterns are free with yarn purchase.

Crystal These are some new colors or Taos - a really lovely self striping wool, and there's things in Aran print and Marl.  There's also Panda Cotton sock yarn.  No reason to give up knitting socks for the summer with this combo of cotton and bamboo....

Happy St Patrick's Day

Today's the big sale - when you come in look for the Shamrocks to save big.  Doyle was researching...St Patrick born in 385AD in Wales.  He first came to Ireland by means of seafaring raiders who captured him and took him to Ireland where they sold him for a slave.  He escaped, went home, then to France and returned to Ireland for the last 30 years of his life.  He didn't really chase the snakes out of Ireland.  It was more that he converted the Pagans there, built churches and monestaries and ordained priests.  The snakes were a common metaphor for pagan folk.  Ireland never had any slithery snakes.

The first shipment of Ashford things came in yesterday and we should be able to get that loom put together next week?  I hope.  And wheels and Niddy Noddies.....The Joy - portable spinning wheel - wasmostly together already and is on display.

These are just too cool

These are Carole's leftovers socks.  She took a lot of different sock yarns and put them together...

Ab and by the way there are LOTS of new and interesting books in this afternoon.

There is a yarn swap this Saturday - in case you forgot......Saturday at 2.  The theme is anything Irish - green, orange or white, or something genuinely from Ireland........

And Bunny class is right after....

And Monday is the Shelbyville Fiber Guild meeting - we'll be doing spinning.  Folks can bring their wheels and spindles and learn lots from all those experienced fiber people.

What's new, you ask.....

Urban Silk!  Beautiful silk and cotton blend, mostly silk and shimmery and guess what ....soft.....

And here's a picture of the cape that is the free pattern this month.  It is made from Crystal Palace Aran Marl...can also be done other Aran yarns they do and was a dream to knit with.  Just the right stretchiness and feel, not too slick.  Great little thing for cool spring mornings or evenings.

I went to the Alpaca show...

and Red Bear has some new friends in the store.  A little alpaca who often sits in the alpaca yarn and an alpaca bear that feels SSSOOOO SOOOFFFTT that I and others often can be found cuddling him at the table.  Red Bear is a little jealous.  I talked with Ruth from New Era  at the show and she has come up with some new kits and designs that should be showing up in the store soon.  Hats and baby booties and things, made with that super soft locally grown and milled alpaca yarn.  Maybe some roving to spin too......

The new calendar is up...We've been having computer issues.  Darlene worked long and hard and figured out it was a Comcast problem - which they have now fixed and I was able to update the calendar. Yeah!!!!  And thank you Darlene! And Doyle - who has been tireless in trying to solve it too.

There's a bunny class this weekend - the old bunny folks have remembered and wanted to do.  The new bunny - Olivia  - will be later in the month.  There's a new pattern of the month too.  I'll post a picture next time...It was a very fun and pretty project.

We got some Step in - that wonderful sock yarn with the Aloe and Jojoba in it. I am going home now....
