You can put a lot of stuff in it....

Stringbag

This great string bag by Darlene uses  July's featured yarn:  Louet Euroflax.  Linen is made from flax, it's durable and washable and dryable.  It softens with every wash and use.  It is great she brought this in, I had not finished the pattern or project yet and now I have more time....Time that will be taken up knitting the Mystery Stole 3 that started this morning.  Some folks thought we ought to have a support group for this - so starting next Friday at 11am if you are knitting the thing, come in and knit on it here - or at least come and talk about it with others.  I am amazed - over 3400 people in at least a dozen countries are doing this thing.  It isn't too late to sign up- you have until July 6th.  I forgot my Addi's at home so unless Doyle brings them in later I can't cast on until late tonight.....(I have half a dozen #4's at home and refuse to open more).

For those that were waiting....Charmed Knits - the Harry Potter inspired knit book is back, along with other great stuff.

And a final thing today (maybe) Please remind me to let you throw your name in the pot for the Bag drawing when you make your purchases.  The flyer about the drawing is by the check out.....

Uh Oh...Oh My

That alpaca sock yarn arrived today...oh my, oh my......oh what colorful happy feet we'll have. and there are a few new books in too.  The Uh Oh was for more spinning fiber. I am out of room for it.  There are now five colors of Alpaca top to spin that came in with the Alpaca sock yarn.  It is completely to die for soft.

Spinning

A recent email I got from the Editors of Spin Off Magazine reports that 29% of knitters and 27% of crocheters say they would like to learn to spin.  If you are out there - here's a good chance to do just that:  Saturday at 1:00 I am teaching a  Spinning class.  All you need is a drop spindle and some fiber and you can create your own exciting  and unique yarn to knit with.

The Never Ending Baby Blanket is Done

I had to stop.  This one is fun but tedious - I am in lace mode and couldn't do any more stockinette.  I will be writing up the pattern.  It was inspired by a blanket Jamie did and she was using (or misusing - cause I suspect she doesn't follow patterns either).  It is all a cotton acrylic blend, the particular yarn I used has been discontinued since it was stash yarn.  You could do this in Blue Sky Organic cotton or Cascade Luna or any number of things and it would be wonderful.

That mystery stole knit along is growing phenomenally - over 200 folks and in several languages - who knew?  I have my swatch done and think that maybe if I knit during strong daylight hours outside in the sun I can do this in black..... or I guess I could invest in a magnifying glass.

Mystery Stole

Remeber I said I had been bitten by the lace bug again.....Someone told me about this yesterday and I have to do it.  This person sends out parts of the lace stole pattern every week or so and you knit along with other folks.  Here's the link to read about it and join in: Pink Lemon Twist.  Bronwyn and Karen and I are so far doing this - in black lace weight merino - yes we probably have lost our minds, but wanna join us?  Look at some of her other patterns and check out what she designs.

I just spoke with the very nice woman at Yarn Place and she made me very happy by saying my order is shipping today!  This is the hand dyed bamboo yarn and the variegated  AWESOME!!!!!! lace weight merino that I ordered at TNNA.  And she was sooo nice.   Mostly the folks at the yarn companies are nice and very helpful but some are especially so and she's one of those. Want a sneak peek?  Yarn Place - go here.  The website isn't fully functional yet but you'll get the idea.

Beads Beads with hand dyed yarn (by me) and Heartstrings scarf pattern.....see why I'm addicted?

June 19, 2007

Found another thing to be obsessed about

I started my first knitting project with beads last night and can't stop....The lace bug had bitten again anyway and put beads with that and I am so hooked.  No picture til Thursday though.  So much for my little agreement with myself that I wouldn't start anything new til I finished the baby blanket.

Carole's here today

Carole is working today....come in and bug her!  Just a reminder there is a Finishing Techniques class Saturday.  This will help a lot for making a sweater, or other projects that need that finishing touch to make it look good.  If you are wondering how to sew up a seam or crochet an edge or do other little knitting tricks this is the class for you.  Please sign up by Friday so you have time to prepare - there is homework.  I will be back on Thursday.

Enter the Drawing!

At market I got a bag, yarn samples, needles, and a pattern book, etc....I hate to part with it all and Carole wants it desperately but she can't play.  So here's the thing.   I thought someone out there would like it and I'm giving it away. Come in, for every $25.00 you spend you can put your name in the pot for a drawing once. What's in it is a surprise, but the bag looks like this:

Bag There's a section for needles and such...it is a good thing.   It starts today and the  goes through July 5th at noon when we'll draw the name.
