FLEECE DAY

was very worth it.....tiring but there's nice clean wool now - 6 big fleeces.

Sheep1 waiting for water to boil - well, almost boil.  These are my two fleeces in the front, spread out, dirty and smelly.  Both are shetland fleeces, blue ribbon winning from Brenda Morley (local fibery person who raises sheep and rabbits).

Sheep2 Rinsing after they've soaked.

Fleece This actually the second soak (in water and a bit of vinegar)Fleece2 Drying in the sun....though actually we got most of the water out - or Jan and Darlene did through the process of what Jan dubbed "whizzing".  It worked well except for when you hit yourself in the head.....

Whizz And here is the lovely finished wool ready for carding or combing and spinningClean This is Jan's Border Leicester - the crimp was amazing and the luster is great.  We all had fun, are tired and have GREAT wool to show for it.
