BIG SALE SATURDAY

Saturday is Ground Hog Day....a reminder that I need to do spring cleaning and rather than attempt that at home, I think I'll do it with the yarn.  'Cause really, here I might get somewhere while at home...well.. I think that's a lost cause.  Some of it HAS TO GO to make room for great new stuff.  So Saturday there's a BIG SALE!.  Lots of stuff on sale and much of it up 40 and 45% off.  Come in early while there's still some left...

Is it a pig or a sheep?

Mangalitza It's a pig, a rare breed of eastern European pig -  Mangalitza pig - that has curly wooly hair.  I was on the Natural Dyes list this morning and they have been talking about them.

I also got a preview of the new Interweave Knits for Spring and there are some really great things in there.  And did you know we have added Knit "n Style to the list of magazines we carry?  They have been doing good things with this magazine lately.

Three Day Sock

Threeday I started this on Wednesday and finished it last night.  It is very comfy, made from Crystal Palace Bunny Hop and when I tried it on this morning it was a very good thing.  The other one is about half way up the foot and I can't wait to wear them. I may have to do another pair. Which is saying a lot for me, since I don't particularly enjoy knitting socks a lot of the time.  But since I like wearing them I do it once in a while.

A bunch of new Opal "Blues" came in Thursday.  It is thicker than the normal opal - what they used to call their 6 ply.  I have a pair of them done on size 3's and got knee socks out of a ball.

Blues The knewsletter will be going out this week.  Look for it in your email.

Inga hat is done

IT is still a bit damp but here it is.  This is a pattern off Ravelry called the Inga Hat.  I made it from JCA's Whiskey.   This is really pretty yarn with subtle variations in color -so though you probably can't see it in the picture there's a bit of pink in the blue and green in the brown...

Inga The first few rows of this hat make the neatest pattern.  but it does roll up some.

The Duckies sweater -Aggi- from The Bestof Lopi was finished last week.  This is size 2 and was fun  Duckies2 to knit.  It's one of those that you knit the body to the arms, then the sleeves, and join to knit the yoke.

The Carolyn Jacket

This sample jacket came along with my order for their wonderful kits.

Carolyn There's the fabric beginnings of the jacket and you add yarns of your choice and knit the sides and sleeves.  They are all unique, you can make them the size you need. And when I opened the box I discovered she's a Tennessee person - so yeah, more local folks doing neat things.

Lisa is addicted to Fair Isle

This is her third project since November, I think.  She used Paca Peds sock yarn - it's variegated - and Alpaca Drops to make a headband.  The pattern is from Jessica Tromp and there are MANY patterns charted there.  Lisafair It's so pretty.

Look at What Rachel is Making...

Clapot It's Clapotis from Knitty.com.  It's an old favorite of many folks and in fact the Nashville Knitting Guild decided to do it as a knitalong this year.  Rachel's is out of Frost by Wool in the Woods.  It has a bit of sparkle in it.  Even though Wool in the Woods is no more - it was sold to Cherry Tree Hill who is not keeping up production of all the really special yarns that Wool in the Woods had.  We have a bit of Cherub, Frost, and Chenille (Double Deal) and Feelin" Fuzzy Mohair still in stock though.

Gwen made this beautiful wrap from Artful Yarns "Broadway" held together with Plymouth Tweed.  It's warm and yummy...Gwen

A Fabulous Day

There were reps here earlier and we have FABULOUS buttons!  There are little ones and big giant ones and more in between...Butt2

Butt There's green ones and purple and red and orange and black and brown and shiny and polka dots, all made by a sort of local person (Kentucky).  I love 'em.

And the yarn rep had a bit of sock yarn that was interesting.....Hand Painted Knitting Yarns - so I got just a fewHpky I love it when they carry stuff in bags around with 'em to sell.  There's some other interesting things on the way....tee hee.....not telling all now, but shall we just say that I apparently have a weakness for sock yarn even if I hardly ever knit them.....

Yesterday brought a great shipment of books, interesting things, Jamieson's shetland knitting books, Alice Starmore's Fishermen's Sweaters, Knitting in the Old Way, Tams, Tea Cozies, Armenian Knitting.....

Back and busy, busy.  I cooked ALL DAY yesterday and barely got to knit.  But I did finish the Cabled Thing....and it is blocking.  For those who knew of  Hector - click on his website to see the pictures of the new kitties.

I just got a very good thing in the mail - a signed copy of Alice Starmore's Book of Fair Isle Knitting.  It is a great and amazing book that has been out of print for a long time.  I'm on a Fair Isle kick again and want to do something really complicated...uh oh.....
