oops

It's been a while since I posted.  Hope everyone had a great Easter.  There was a great weaving class and those pics are up now (well, in a minute).  Jojoland sent more things - there's now a bit of fingering weight in their beautiful colorways and a spiral scarf pattern that I HAVE to do.  I am working away on an afghan at the moment out of  Noro Kureyon - Multidirectional scarves which will then be sewn together.  It's too pretty and 2/3 done - maybe by next week and then I can start that scarf.  I managed to finish two things this month - the branching out scarf in Frog Tree Alpaca Sport and a large triangular shawl out of leftovers of Karabella Aurora 8.  I discovered I do not like the Karabella and the rest of it is on the clearance shelf. Some people love it, just not me. I love the Frog Tree.  There is now even a new color of that one.  I am determined to finish a sock this month too.  I have so many unfinished on the needles that I have no more #1 40" addis left in my stash at home.  And there are way too many single socks hanging around.  I wear them anyway with them not matching - but not everyone understands this so I only do it at the store once in a while.  Okay I should stop rambling now.

The new Spin Off and the new Vogue are here.   And the Knit 'n Style came in last week and I forgot to mention it.

I guess I also need to let folks know that we are closed on Sunday for Easter.

Bunplay Guess the bunnies are getting excited....

Albera is finally ready for spring

Alberaspring

in a flouncy red skirt and knitted cotton vest.  Are you?  I've added a couple of classes to the schedule lately.  Carole's one day sock class on April 26th still has 3 spaces in it (and there's that luscious panda silk and new Opals that recently came in).   I am doing a my first sweater class later in April - but it will be a cotton henley - top down, easy, very comfy and almost no sewing.

Sock in a Day...

This is a shorter version of the Sock Class.  There have been some folks from out of town that wanted to take a sock class but couldn't make it for the 5 sessions that it usually is.  This gave me the idea to condense the class.  So....you'll  will make a small sock out of worsted weight yarn to learn all the techniques.  Then you can begin on one with sock yarn.  These would also make great toddler socks for someone in your life....

Mini Carole made this little sampler out of Jellibeenz and did the different colors to make the different sections of the sock more apparent.  For the class you must already know the long tail cast on, increases, decreases and Magic Loop.  There is a magic loop class the morning of the sock class for those who need it.    The class is on Saturday April 26th, 12-4pm. Class is limited to 4, so sign up early.

"Patterns are just a recommendation"

Mary said this in group the other day and I cheered.  It is so true.  Some designer just managed to write her idea down in a way (occasionally) that someone else could repeat what she did.  I rarely follow a pattern, & often joke that even if I wrote it I won't follow it.  I do this for several reasons - I really am a bit oppositional and don't like to do exactly what someone told me to, but also since I knit left handed I have to make changes anyway cause so much is backwards.  And then nothing fits me like it does the size 0 models.  Really what she said is so true.  Don't be afraid to make your own version of that designer jacket you saw somewhere.  Or add a pocket to that cardigan or a different collar to the sweater.  Use a completely different yarn, or make it longer with a slit in the side.  No one else will have one like it. And if you need help with it - this weekend is yarn therapy group - Saturday from 1-2pm.  You can bring your problem yarn and projects and get free help.  We also have this wonderful thing for sale at the store - giant size knitter's graph paper.  You can easily design a sweater on your own or if this seems too much....I  will  design one for you.  Ask about this service if you are interested.  Prices vary depending on the complexity of the design.

Yup, there are classes

Doyle got us here, pretty easily.  I knitted all the way in and didn't watch him drive.....(I actually try to never watch him drive, with varying levels of success).  So, yes, there are classes and we are open and since I have not heard from Stacie that she can't get here I am assuming she'll be in to teach too. But be safe, do what you think is best for you.   P1010522 These sure came in handy this morning (silly pun intended), walking the dog (who totally thinks snow is amazing and fun).   These are from  a kit from Finland that some of us are doing as a knit along - The yarn is beautiful and these are natural colors but some of them had yarns that were dyed with mushrooms and lichens and plants (I'm still obsessed) .

Snow things

I know folks are worried about the snow and classes tomorrow.  I will post here as soon as I know anything.  Call the store if you have doubts but Stacie and I plan on getting here.  I live out in the boonies, but Doyle says he will get me here!  So classes are on as of right now.

Group tonight - well it is almost 6:30 and several people have called to cancel, no one else is here and so I am going out to dinner with my dear hubby now.

Yarn is dribbling in....

There's a bit of Berroco's new sock yarn SOX, it's lovely.  And some new colors of Love It and a bit of Alpaca Lace that I had stashed away came out.  This one is undyed creamy white alpaca and comes in 1230 yd or 2460yd skeins - just waiting to be dyed or maybe used as is.

There a LARGE load of Cascade 220 due in this week too.  I needed to restock, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Mountain Colors just wrote that they are working on Dyed Targhee top (for spinning) in their luscious colorways.  Let me know if you are interested and I can order some.
