I've become stripe obsessed

I've made a couple of striped scarves in the last week using bulky soft furry yarns.

Look....

This one is with Crystal Palace Merino Sripes on #11s.  The pattern is easy but I did print it up and it is free with yarn purchase...It weighs NOTHING and is so soft.

And then there's this one out of a new yarn - Lang Piora - alpaca and wool.  REALLY SOFT!

I am working on writing this one up.  It was fun.

 I have a shrug I am almost finished with too - more stripes in fall colors - two textures of the same colorway of some Ironstone Yarns.  Next is a shadow knit scarf......

The Latest Knewsletter is out

and if you didn't get it, it is posted here (link at the left) and on ravelry on our group.  Today is the last Sunday Group, at least for a while.  I will be doing little "mini classes" on Sundays at 2pm.  Each one covers a new skill or project, they are just $10 and the first is Cables next week.  The schedule is on the classes section too.  By the way classes are up through December.  Thursday morning and Friday evening groups are still going strong and the tea pot is back on, so come in and join in.

Mitten

 Here's the mitten sample for the class that starts next Saturday....Beautiful new yarn (Aslan Trends Los Andes) that came in this last week and in such pretty colorways.  The mitten is done on #13s and is quick, quick, quick.  The class is the next two Saturdays at 2pm and you could make some for folks on your Christmas list.

These are really Wool combs used to comb out the raw fleece before running it through a diz to make roving.  So now you (read I) can comb out the fleece we? bought in a fit of addicted insanity....tee hee and hopefully not stab ourselves.....I can now carry these cause I found a local supplier in Kentucky who makes them in either oak or maple....

I also got some new books today.  My fave being this one...OMG! I kept a copy for myself (oops meant to say for the store, uh uh that was it...)

And there's more.....yarn, and more yarn. Lots of new yarn from Berroco - Peruvia Quick a bulky wool in earthy beautiful colors and sock yarns.  And some that were favorites at the Yarn Tasting from Aslan Trends...Sock yarn and some thick & thin hand painted bulky that is to die for.

 

The Yarn Tasting

Here's what was on the menu....Appetizers were Plymouth Earth Collection Oceanside Organic Cotton, Ironstone SKy, Berroco Sundae, Aslan Trends Santa Fe, Crystal Palace Lofty Wool. 

First Course:  Twilley's Freedom Spirit, Schulana Grande, Schulana Cortina, Asland Trends Los Andes and Bariloche. 

Second Course Austermann Merino Silk (the very favorite), Zitron Noblesse, Berroco Blackstone Tweed, Berroco Lustra, Cascade Rustic

Dessert was Punta Yarns MeriTwist, Mericash, Merisock, all hand painted and wonderful.

I had so much fun doing this one, there will be another in the spring.

I Think It Is Official

We are  Spin Central in Middle Tennesse.  I got a HUGE shipment of fiber for spinning and felting this week....

There's Corriedale Multicoloreds, Merino & Silk, Merino Top, Alpaca, Alpaca Silk, Silk Noils, BFL by the pound (or ounce, but why do that?).  Of course we still have some Crosspatch, my handpainted fiber, Ashford and Louet spinning wheels, and I have made spindles, both plain and painted that are affordable...I put together some felting packs too and it was everywhere...okay I was overhelmed too

 Its a  wine cozy made by Lisa who came to knitting group last week but was too sick to come this week.  She sent wine and this adorable cozy.  Thank you, we had "knitting water" at group yesterday.  And get well soon.  Oh and she sent the pattern which I will either print out or put up on the website soon.

Just about the time...

I was lamenting the absence of Patagonia Nature Cotton... that lucsious nubbly handspun and hand dyed cotton ...It was never to return because the distributor had raised the price beyond what was reasonable (any new stock coming in would have been over $13.00 a skein!) they go and offer a deal on some......I got a bargain and so can you.  The price has dropped to $8.89 per skein....Yeah!  That's more like it.  So I got Lots!!!

  There's a lot....it's a one time thing though, I can't tell if they'll do it again anytime soon.

Yarn Tasting

Samples just keep coming.  Today it was Skacel and there are several sock yarns in the batch they sent.  There are probably 20+ yarns at the moment and more coming.  The tasting selection will be amazing.  There will be a wide variety- luxury yarns, good standard knitting yarns, sock yarns, handyed.....Sign up soon, it is going to be so good.

Just wanted to say that we appreciate your business. 

Here's some new yarn I am putting out this morning.  I have a scarf started in one and am writing a shrawl design in two others.  It's kinda yummy stuff.  I have recently added Ironstone Yarns and they do some really pretty things "Madrid", the boucle,  is going to find its way into some weaving soon.  It is a perfect yarn for that, and some of the "Mesa", multicolored wool, matches it and would be great warp.  Knitting it is good too...

I have moved the clearance stuff to one shelf and some baskets - it'll all be 45% off for the time being.

And here are Sherry's first pair of socks.  She completed these shortly after the last sock class and is now on her second pair in smaller yarn.  She had been very frustrated with other sock patterns, working on one sock for over a year and ripping a lot.  These she got in good time and is much happier with.  This is the patternless sock I teach in the sock class.  The next one starts Oct 3rd and there is  only one spot left in the class.
