So Many Hats

I have been making hats... The black & white one is the grandbaby's and he loves it.  It is made from Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran (on sale still for Sunday).  The blue and brown one is a tam for Doyle.  He wanted soft so it is Alpaca from a farm we visited in Maine this summer.  Some of that yarn will be here early next month. The colorful one is for me - Noro and black wool I had in the stash.

There is  a fair isle knitted tam class starting this Thursday (Dec 3 & 10) at 4 so you could make one of these too.

Then there is this too.  Made of Kudo - a noroesque yarn from Plymouth in cotton, rayon and silk and a pattern from Schaefer yarns.  I was surprised - I loved knitting with this yarn. and I love the colors.  It feels really nice on too.  Very light and soft...  It is a knit in the stitch below patttern that makes for a great texture.

 

SALE This weekend

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.  Don't forget the sale all weekend! 

And if you have auction items to pick up please note that cash or check is preferable.  If you have to use a card, I will have to run it through my system which will mean that sales tax applies and Domestic Violence will get 4% less to account for credit card fees.

I have held it in long enough

I've got stuff to write.  If you want to look at the auction stuff, scroll down.  Because THERE"S NEW AWESOME YARN!  Here are a couple of pics

This one is Silky - hand dyed Mulberry Silk from Canada and really nice shawl pins too.

And these are Andy's Merino II and Lumpy Bumpy from Farmhouse Yarns in Maine, also hand  dyed.  It was all I could do not to take it all home for myself.  Especially that purple, I have been on a purple kick lately.

I have added a last minute class in December - Fair Isle Tam Hat - I have been knitting them from Knitty's "Three Tams" pattern and since I have had a couple of requests for Fair Isle knitting class...anyway it is Thursday Dec 3rd and 10th from 4-5:30. 

There was a Traditional Norwegian Knitting Trunk Show due here this week, it has been delayed but I am hoping for next week.  I do have lots of the patterns already.

As the bids come in I will post them. Check  on your items.  I will send out "You've been outbid" notices as I can.   Tomorrow at 11:55 I will be sure that all bids I have are posted and at noon it closes down.  You can call with a bid at the last minute, but there is only one line into the store which may be busy.

The auction proceeds are going to the local Domestic Violence Shelter.  Some items are things I have made as samples for the store, some are donated.  Here's how this works

Find the item you want to bid on and note the number.  Send me an email to meredith@knaughtyknitter.com with your bid, or call at 217 4966 or come into the store to record your bid.  I will be updating the bids daily so check back to see your status.

In your email include your name and contact information - email and phone number and the amount you wish to bid and what item #  of course.

You could get lots of your holiday shopping done here.  There are no minimum bids, but be generous -it's going to a good cause.

#01  This lovely woven scarf is done in cotton, mostly black with colorful bits in the warp.  It is 7" x 68". It was woven and donated by RJ.

#02  This is a luscious scarf made from Lang Mille Colori Big yarn.  It is 9" x 60".  The fiber content is 50/50 Wool/acrylic.  It was knit and donated by Sally.

#05  This child size hat is made from Berroco Softwist - a Rayon & Wool blend.  It is soft and has buttons on it from my mother's button box.

#10  This a super soft loopy mohair and wool scarf.  Long and skinny, you can wrap it a couple of times around or wear it longer. I just realized the picture is not here, it is blues and greens, very watery looking.

#11 This the backpack everyone loves but I don't have the patterns anymore.  So here it is.  It measures 13" tall x 11" wide x 7".

#13  This top is made from a Vittadini pattern and yarn.  Wool, alpaca, mohair and nylon.  It is very soft and durable too.  This is an adult small/child large depending on how you like the fit.

#22  This baby sweater and hat set is soo cute.  I would guess it is about a size 6 months.  The chest on the sweater is about 22" and the hat is 15" around.

#25  The purse for the holidays.  This mostly black and awesomely textured bag is sturdy and festive.  It is 11" tall x 16'at the widest point

Almost Auction Day

Tomorrow the auction to benefit the Domestic Violence Shelter begins.  You can view items then by clicking on the Auction Pages link.  When you would like to bid on something, simply email me your item number, bid and contact information.  I'll update daily so you will know where you stand.  Probably I will update more often towards the end of the auction (12 noon on November 24th).   Be Generous, shop shop shop!  Tell your friends. I may be adding some more items over the next couple of days so it isn't too late to donate for the auction.

Knit Green

is a new book out by Joanne Seiff who also wrote Fiber Gathering.  It is full of information on how to knit more ecologically responsibly.  It talks about different fibers and buying local, sustainable (fiber) farming, recycling, maintaining indigenous traditions,  vegan knitting, all sorts of things.  And there are patterns too.  Seems to be a great book for those of us interested in that And it's here.....

Interweave Knits Accessories is here too.  This is a large magazine with lots of gift ideas, sections of hats and scarves and socks and a mitten guide that will let you do any size mitten out of any size yarn.  Over 60 patterns, its reallygreat.

And here is a project Carolyn did. A chakra shawl, out of linen.  It is beaurtiful.

Well....

Here's what Iam working on....it is stash yarn very similar to Brown Sheep's Lamb's Pride and will eventually be a vest.  I love slip stitch even if the colors are a bit muted for me.  It is fun.

And I was looking through the new book of little knitted gifts that came in a few weeks ago.  - this one

and there were some great things in it.  I hadn't had a chance to look earlier, but I think I need a copy for me.  Just cute stuff.

The Wet Felting class was great, a little cold but they did fun hats.  Most of   the pictures will be in the classes gallery later today.

 
 

Now is a good time

to come in and fill out your wish list at the store.  We have "gift registry" and you can pick out what you'd like and make your loved one's holiday shopping easier.  Of course there are gift certificates too.

Only 55 knitting days left before Christmas, 41 until Hanukkah, 51 until Winter Solstice, 56 til Kwanzaa.  There are plenty of gift patterns at the store and some easy gifts we are making in classes this month too.  This Friday is felted bowls class at 11:30.  Thursday evening is the Felted Clogs Class, and Saturday Felted Bags starts.  Sunday is an easy lace scarf. 

I generally (object and still do) to all the really early Holiday decorations....I kind of want to get through Thanksgiving decorations before I do Christmas.  But this year we are participating in the Only Downtown Shop & Stroll on Friday November 6th so I will be decorating by then.  Downtown merchants are doing an open house, there will be refreshments and you can register for gifts.  Wonder what Albera will be wearing?
