Seems like it has been a while. Things are busy, there are lots of new yarns in and more on the way. We have a new person who’s joined the staff this last week. Robin will be working Tuesdays and some Fridays. She’s very sweet and she crochets, weaves and knits. Robin was part of the original Friday Night Knitting Group before I opened the store and I am glad to have her here.
There are many new colors of Manos de Uruguay, I am almost finished with a vest I am making in Wool Classica and I love knitting with it. Their new one – Serena – is a lovely combination of alpaca and silk. We’ve added Ella Rae and some new Auracania yarns since the move. Ella Rae Merino Lace and Chunky hand dyeds are the most luscious yarns. There is some matching Luxury Mohair – Hand dyed mostly mohair with a bit of silk. It came in Monday and Lisa left me a big note “Where are we gonna put this?” Well, we found a place. There is Noro Hitsuji which I made a large bag from and will put out this afternoon. It has been waiting in back for more fall knitting to be on my mind. There is new yarn and kits from Great Adirondack Yarn Co. They do luxury hand dyed yarns. Lucci yarns sent some awesome hand tied combination yarns that are really fun. There are new and more interesting ruffle yarns coming out every week it seems and we have those too. I am still a little sequin crazy and there are lots of the carry along sequin yarns here. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them plied with hand spun yarns. New hand dyed sock yarns are in from a couple of places, as well as some new colors of Step – the one with Aloe and Jojoba in the yarn.
Another interesting thing I just started carrying is Art Felt Paper – You lightly needle felt fiber to it, wet it, roll it up and toss it in the dryer. It is so much easier than the normal wet felting process.
Did you know? We carry tatting needles and shuttles, how to books and also locker hooks and hairpin lace looms. We also have a good supply of different sorts of crochet hooks, including the Denise sets. I have just restocked the crochet cottons too, there are now more colors and some finer threads. Makes me want to crochet doilies…..There’s just not enough time to do everything. I have way too many projects in my queue.
There are some fun classes coming up in August and September. Hairpin lace is being taught by Lisa. Eva will be teaching a Spinning on a Drop Spindle class the week after the Spinning Circle. Knitting 101, Crochet 101, Knitting 200 are on the schedule too. Next week I will have my Modern Quilt Wrap Finished and it will be on display…..because at the end of August there is a Modular Knitting class too. There are several other modular knitted things in the store as well. It’s fun and easier than you might think. I don’t have the schedule completed for September yet, look for that in a couple of weeks.
Happy Knitting or whatever fibery thing you do. Come on by and check out the new digs if you haven’t already.
