So this is the most recent bit of weaving. I have tried several patterns as I weave this first in a long time weaving on the floor loom. Grabbing patterns where I can find them and just seeing what they do. This one is probably nothing new, but I didn't find it somewhere - I made it up from what I had learned about what was happening as I wove. There's much that can be learned by "playing" instead of mindlessly following a pattern. I use patterns, and sometimes learn things when I am working one. But it doesn't make me think about what I am doing and what is happening the way playing does, or trying to figure out something on my own. I may get to the same place someone else has already been but I'll understand how things worked out that way much more. The same thing applies to knitting and crochet. Playing with yarn can teach you different things that you might never learn if you only follow someone else's plan. So be playful, try new things, knit or crochet or weave your own ideas and see where they take you and what you learn along the way.
