About Us

The Knaughty Knitter opened its doors on November 10, 2005. We are proud to serve Murfreesboro, Tennessee and the surrounding area as a source for fine yarns, patterns, knitting needles, crochet hooks, drop spindles, roving, spinning wheels, looms and more. We also offer knitting, crochet, spinning, and weaving classes, as well as personal lessons for everyone, from those who have never picked up a needle to more experienced fiber people looking for a new challenge.

Originally located in a little yellow house a few blocks from Murfreesboro's town square, The Knaughty Knitter provides a comfortable and welcoming environment where customers will be happy to browse, get help with a project, or pull up a chair and knit or crochet with us for a while. By April 2012, the shop was moved to our new location not very far the I-24 and Highway 96 (Old Fort Parkway) interchange at 202B N. Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN.

The store is owned by Meredith & Doyle Kermicle, who have lived in the Murfreesboro area for 19 years. The store boasts a small and helpful staff of instructors and yarn fanatics. For us, this place is a dream come true.

Meredith_knitting    From Meredith: "I had been playing with the idea of     opening a yarn store here for a while but had let it go     finally. Then in August of 2005 I took a weeklong     weaving class at the Appalachian Center for Craft that     reminded me I wanted work that was more creative and     artsy. I came back from the week knowing I had to open     the store. And so here it is...a place where fiber people of     all sorts can gather and create and share themselves and this art. Oh yeah...and buy yarn, learn new skills, and laugh a lot."

From Doyle: "I am the other half of The Knaughty Knitter. I can't express how privileged I feel to share my life with Meredith. She is a wonderfully talented and creative person and a joy to live with. We both formed the corporation known as The Knaughty Knitter. It was she, however, who put the business together. I have worked on the nuts and bolts (needles and yarn) of getting it going. We are thrilled at the response. Meredith has consistently tried to get me to knit. So far I have resisted because of all my other interests. I am a psychotherapist and find my creative outlet in that art. But I guess she is wearing me down and probably before long you will see me with yarn all around me and needles in my hand and this ecstatic look on my face as I wallow in the sensual arena of yarn, needles, and good fun with good people.

What wonderful support we have had from everyone in this venture! It is so gratifying to realize how many friends have come forward to support us. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this community of knitters. Thank you one and all."

We hope to see you soon!!
