I was having a purple day....

Seems like everything I wanted from those yarn reps yesterday was purple...There are things coming.  There were two of them and they ganged up on me, really.  I wasn't going to get ANYTHING!  Conjoined Creations does Flat Feet - those those lovely dyed flat knitted yarn things that you unravel as you knit your socks.  And some incredible Fair Isle patterns that I had not seen before - some very traditional, some not so much.   And a really lovely chunky wool/linen yarn from Cascade that I could not resist.  And Figheadh patterns.  I was pretty inspired by a lot of the patterns and I think there will be a couple of not too complicated knit alongs in the works before too long.  I have been reading this morning about embellishing things with beads, embroidery, putting weaving and knitting together and generally combining crafts.  I can't wait to try some things.

Knitting Bags and more

A shipment of Namaste bags just came in...

They are so roomy inside.  This one is Malibu.  There are some more of my fave - Laguna - good colors - hot pink, teal, olive...... and some messenger bags.  These are courderoy and you could carry the laptop and your knitting and still be really organaized.  There are pockets EVERYWHERE.  I love their stuff.

And this came too, more stuff I love...Crosspatch Creations Loch Leven...It is so pretty for felting or spinning.

These are sock yarns....Paca Peds in Tie Dye, Green Gator, Frosty Nite and then the newest one I totally love - Pagewood Farms Hand Dyed Merino/Cashmere sock yarn.  It's VERRYY Yummy.

I just had to have a picture of the new display in front.  I love all these fall colors and we got a lot of them in on last week.  It's FALL!  Time to knit heavier things - big woolly yarns and earthy colors.  I was out on my back porch spinning this morning and it was lovely.

These are some I made from the pattern.  The one with the face is made from Lopi and was supposed to be the smaller one in the pattern.  The face was needle felted after. The smaller one is made from a single strand of Cascada Pastaza and it shrank more.  The class for this is on Saturday, October 11th from 11 to 3 and the price includes the pattern.  It is a great skill builder for beginning knitters.  You'll learn knitting in the round, picking up stitches, I cord, shaping things, felting....  The pattern will not be available for sale until after the class.  Those who take the class will also get a bonus treat bag pattern I am hoping to finish next week.  Now I think I will make one with leftover yarn and stuff it for the grandbaby......

I have recently added Carole Bristol Designs to the pattern stash.  I am making a couple of these and there will be a class on October 11th from 11 to 3.  I have postponed the Natural Dyeing Class and we'll make pumpkins instead that day.  I am also working a cute little trick or treat bag and that pattern will be available to class attendees too as an extra little gift.  I'll put pictures of mine up this week.  I did a Lopi one last night and am waiting for the shipment of yarn from Cascade to grab a  skein of Orange Pastaza for a larger one.

It is feeling cluttered in here

Having just moved and really downsized things and gotten very organized at my house, it feels REALLY cluttered in here.  SO...I will be doing some reorganizing over the next few weeks.  To start with magazines and pattern books that have sat here longer than I want them to will be in a basket in the front room and be  going for a dollar or two.  I am doing that this morning.  Some new yarns will be coming for fall and I will be adding to the Encore color selection.  I have had a few requests for that and so in a few weeks there will be more.  More colors of Cascade 220 are on their way too.  I will create a store samples sale section too.  Store samples that need homes will be available there.  This is fun, I love getting organized (Don't faint Doyle, Carole, Stacie when you read this, really I do)

Spinning Contest Tonight

at the State Fair - in the sheep building at 7:30.  It oughta be fun, come join us.  There will be people spinning on wheels and drop spindles and then there's a fleece auction right after.  I got a wonderful fleece there last year and have lovely grey shetland yarn now.

The perfect pattern for Rio de la Plata

I loved making this shrug/vest thing.  The Rio De Le Plata (5 sk. for extra large, 4 for smaller) yarn was a joy to work with, the pattern was easy enough to do but not boring and still went fast because of the bigger yarn.  The pattern is one I found through an ad in Ravelry.  It is at Ellen Warren designs.  Unfortunately I can't get it for the store but it is easy to download.  The folks in Friday group like it too.

Now I am still working on two lace shawls - I have about 40 rows to go on the Goddess Knits Anniversary Shawl and a few repeats of the pattern on the Spinner's Shawl before I can edge them both.  I am also madly knitting a Mason Dixon Knitting inspired curtain for my bathroom.  I got the general idea of the pattern and took off, adding beads.  6 inches down and about another skein of Louet Euroflax to go.  There'll be pictures later....

The original from The Best of Interweave Knits was done in orange, gold and brown/green.  It's big!  This one is done from Cascade 128.  If you want a smaller bag you could use smaller yarn.   It is not felted, and is lined.  The basic design is done fair isle and then the lighter bits are duplicate stitched.  There's steeking (crocheted) and sewing.  I changed the pattern a bit (of course) and used I cord around the top edge.

That shrug is still drying, maybe by tomorrow....This appears to be my week to finish things.  The Purse, the Shrug, and I am eally close to finishing the spinner's shawl out of handpainted alpaca from Frog Tree.  Just the edging left.....

Of course this is good, cause the mystery stole starts tomorrow....knitalong group meets here at 11 if anyone else is doing it....

I hope everyone had a great holiday.  I did, I cooked a lot - apple chutney, apple muffins, curry - and I knitted, wove a little and watched the marathon of Clean House, curled up with the cats...  I finished the shrug I was working on and it should be dry and here on Thursday.  It is lace in chunky wool, done with Rio de la Plata in a lovely coral color.   There will be pictures on Thursday.  I left the camera at home......Now I need to finish a lace shawl I am about to put the edging on.  Because the Mystery Stole 4 starts Friday,  so we will have the first knitalong group at 11.  Sign ups are open until Sept 12th.  Go to yahoo groups and search for it if you want to sign up.
