On Saturday, on the square in Murfreesboro, folks from Chicks with Sticks will be gathering to to KIP (Knit in Public) - It's a Knit -a- thon to raise money and collect items for St. Jude's Hospital. The event runs from 8am to 3pm. They will be collecting money, toys and clothing. They have also made a wonderful afghan which will be auctioned off at 2pm. Go participate it that. But if you can't, you can drop off donations here at the store too - We are open til 8 and will take donations today.
And totally unrelated to knitting....The Rutherford Co. Farmer's Market opened today at the Ag Center and there was an impressive array of vendors. In the past, the first days have been sparse - both of vendors and shoppers. Not today. It was packed and the variety was better than ever. There were folks selling breads, free trade coffee (OMG GOOD), sugar free chocolate, amazing goat cheese, honey, flowers, eggs, free range eggs, grass fed meats, not to mention the greens and early spring veggies. So go, it is Tuesday and Friday 6-11. Get to know the farmers there. Buy local, the farmer gets it all (as compared to about $.18 of every dollar if you buy it at the grocery store), it is more nutritious and fresher and often cheaper too. There is one opening on the square too in June - can't wait to see who's at that one. And of course you can knit or crochet your own market bag too!
And now for knitting.....there is still one slot left in the Entrelac Knitting class tomorrow - I have learned to knit in two directions and you can too - it makes entrelac much less tedious.
Here's my scarf.....not finished cause I have decided to add a ruffle around the edge and then a fancy button to make it a cowl.
