It is WWKIP Day - World Wide Knit in Public Day . Since I am not going to the park to knit like last year - too hot and humid even for me - I will do Free Learn to Knit Day at the store. All day - well, til 3 when we close anyway. Buy your yarn and needles here and get started knitting. Send your friends who don't knit so we can fix that problem.
I went to the most interesting place this morning...The Readyville Mill . It is on the site of a an old mill from 1812 and the guy has restored it. It operates on Saturday mornings (8-1) and he sells the stone ground grits, cornmeal and whole wheat flour as well as some homemade jams. I am thrilled, because I had been looking for a local source for grains & flours and they are all certified organic too. There is lots of old farm equipment around, an OLD loom and spinning wheel (he says he has all of it's parts). The setting is georgeous with the river running by and he also rents it out for weddings and gatherings and such. He said he may start doing pancake breakfast on Saturdays too. I may go up there for a Saturday spinning demo sometime soon too. There was a blacksmith there this morning selling his wonderful stuff too.
I found Readyville Mill about a month ago. It is a great place. You should definitely do the demo there.
