Still Crocheting

I have two other crochet projects going, but I just finished this hat. Opal sock yarn and a great little pattern in a Vogue book of crocheted hats.  I am think there may be a little crocheted scarf to go with it in my future.  The pattern was pretty fun.

 
  Any crochet classes anyone - doilies, crocheted lace, hats?  And I have someone whois willing teach needle tatting in the fall.  Let me know if you are interested.

I've gone Crochet Crazy

I have been crocheting a lot lately....I started a bed spread, and am doing doilies and whatever else I can get my hands on.  I got some new books in today - crocheted socks, hats, baby cocoons, and some knitting books too - really lovely baby knitted things (christening gowns)....Anybody up for a crocheted sock class?

And there is new yarn - lovely cotton from Swedish Yarns - Jarbo Soft Cotton....it feels very nice

 
There is more Swedish Yarn coming - Raggi which is a worsted weight, self striping sock yarn.  But we have to wait for the new colors to come in....

There's another box here from Universal Yarns, but I haven't opened that yet.....

Tantalyzing Tuesdays

start today.  I had planned to do the usual Monday Madness all summer, but I realized yeseterday Summer was getting away from me pretty quickly.  And sometimes things just need to change.  So there will be Tantalyzing Tuesdays until the end of August.  Some yarns, accesories or whatever will be on sale Tuesdays of every week.  I'll send out an announcement by email on Monday and it'll be posted here Tuesday. This week the special is Punta yarns.  I just designed a shawl out of the luscious Handpainted South American Cotton (see yesterday's post) and today all Punta yarns will be 25% off.  There is also a free pattern with yarn purchase this week.  Punta yarns are very nice to knit with, they feel nice in the hand and are in beautiful colors.

Two Way Shawl

is knit side to side.  First it goes this way...Then it goes that way.....

It is fun and quick and magically makes it's own triangular shape with straight knitting.

  It is made with the really lovely Punta South American Hand Painted Cotton and a carry along of their Hand Painted Kid Mohair/Acrylic Blend.

I was going to do Monday Madness this summer like I have before, but the summer is kind of getting away from me.  So let's do Tantalyzing Tuesdays until the end of August....Tomorrow Punta yarns are 25% off.  This includes the two for this shawl, and also mericash, and sock yarn and some of the prettiest wool.

Introducing.....

Targhee Top from Mountain Colors...Targhee wool is very springy and lofty, a little goes  a long way.  I have a whole shawl out of 3 oz that I got from Folsom Farms (local wool we also carry)

 
And Lisa's Rag Bags. 

 She makes these from all recycled materials.  Each one is unique and you can only get them here.  I have one and I love it.

 

And re introducing River Twist, also from Mountain Colors.  It seems a bit expensive ----until you knit with it and then your only thoughts are along the lines of "Where have you been all my life"  New colors are in.
Mountain Colors yarns are the ones I used to buy when I would go out of town to other yarn stores - I still think of it as vacation yarn and knitting with River Twist is like taking a luxury vacation at a spa.

And here is a FO that sat in the UFO pile for years.  It started out as a vest  but I was really done making little squares and sewing so it became a shawl.  It is all Koigu.  Never be afraid to mix colors....

 It'll be hanging over by the Koigu in the store....you know, in case you need to see it.  Also out of Koigu is the June Secret Scarf.....here are the beginnings of a couple of them......

 

No pictures in a while so here are some...

These are the scylla socks I finished a couple of weeks ago.  They are out of a cashmere blend sock yarn - there is some of this on the way.  It was dreamy to work with and ought to be amazing on the feet too.

 And then I have a couple of things on the needles....an entrelac, sort of free form vest.  The entrelac panel is down the back and then I pick up and start knitting from there.  There are some short rows to make a better fit and the front will be drapey.  There will also be bits of entrelac in places.  Iy is made of Tatamy Tweed, a cotton and acrylic yarn that is washable and durable.

 

There is also a Rambling Rows afghan for my grandson out of Encore- hoping to be done by Christmas, probably not by his birthday next month.  I am intent on enjoying it and going slower  since so much of my knitting is a "hurry up and get it done" kind of thing. 

And yesterday I dyed a little.  It was too hot to do a lot, but I had this colorway in my head and needed to get it out.  I have been having a thing lately with maroons and wine colors......  There are a couple of skeins of sock yarn and a 4oz bit of Superwash merino (I kept one to play with).

I am busy knitting and crocheting, that's why I am not posting  as much lately.  Well, and there are 900 other things going on too.  I am about to finish something from my UFO pile that has been looming for 2 or 3 years and I should be in the store in a week or so.The latest Knewsletter will be going out later today and I have worked some on the class calendar.  If you have ideas for a class you would like to see let me know, I have left some space in August's schedule that I can add classes to.
