Happy Halloween

Fiber in the Boro was Fabulous!  We will be doing it again next year.  A big thank you to all of you who attended and to the vendors and volunteers and folks who worked there. 

Those of you who won door prizes and didn't claim them can pick them up here before Friday at 5pm.  I sent emails out to most folks, but a few bounced.  Berroco, Universal Yarns and Mango Moon donated some really wonderful gifts for door prizes - Thank you. 

Secret Scarf Class is Tuesday Nov 15th at 5pm.  I will be knitting the scarf this week and will be able to tell you more later.

Red Bear has a new friend

She's crocheted but he doesn't mind.  He's always gone for critters that are a bit different.  She's soft (alpaca & wool) and warm and that is all he can ask for.....

Here was the picture he saw of her before they met....She's pretty cute he thought...

And here is a picture of the beginnings of my scrap shawl.  The class for this is Saturday Nov 5th.

I am busy working on getting ready for Saturday, so if I seem like a crazy person when you come in....I am.  There will not be group on Friday night.  See you all at Fiber in the Boro.

Yarn Fabulousness

 

just came in this morning from Universal Yarns.  More colors of Marina, Marina Glitz and Flora - a smaller mesh that Marina with interesting colorways.  There's Bamboo Bloom and Polaris and Poems Puzzle as well as The two Warm Earth Books, You just have to see them... I am playing....

 

I finished it!

This is the Lopi sweater I started in January - It is done and ready for cold weather.

And this came in yesterday from Mango Moon...There was Chakra - rayon yarn with beads and stone in it....Lambada and Pastiche - both fun fun fun yarns

And I started a cowl/scarf (pattern to follow) with some Kid Seta and Lambada.  This is just the start of it.....it can be slipped over your head for a cowl or worn as a scarf.  Made with #17 needles, it goes pretty fast.

Secret Scarf folks:   I will be letting you choose your colors when you get here and winding them for you then.  You will need about an #8 - straights are fine.

I learned a valuable crochet lesson last night.  Beware of splitty yarn.  I tried to use a lovely fingering weight red yarn that was too loosely plied to crochet with and was struggling the whole time.  It was great for knitting but not crochet.  A single ply I had in the stash worked much better.  I am working on designing some crocheted cowls and scarves.  I thought they would be best in a light weight yarn, but it turns out I am wrong about that and they will be in DK to chunky weights.

Last minute Crochet Class

Saturday Oct 15th at 11am some folks requested a beginning crochet class so there is one.  You are free to join in.  It is 90 packed minutes of crochet basics for $20.  Let me know if you are interested.

The new yarns are all out - well except for a box of Cascade 220 that is suitable for sock monkeys...that's another story but I am making one too.

There are new colors of Raggi - a new Christmas one too.  And Noro Nadeshiko - the beautiful new Angora/Wool & Silk blend.  Berroco Flicker has a free hat pattern with purchase and is so light airy - I am hoping to get to the hat tomorrow.  More colors should be on the way. It sparkles.

Boboli is the prettiest wool/acrylic/viscose blend  I have seen in a while - well maybe ever cause that is kind of an unusual blend

Here's the entrelac hat - it turned into a slouchy hat, not a tam, probably due to my loose knitting.  There is a pattern - Jojoland and that one is done in their yarn, but I like Noro.  The band is in Cascade 220 though.

This is the Autumn Tam from JojoLand.  I will be teaching this one later this month.

 

Molly brought two quilts/wall hangings by the store today and it will be here for a while on exhibit.

They are eally intricate and beautiful

Each one was very different even though we used the same techniques.  They were all beautiful and could grow into really awesome scarves or something else.
