The star is blocking...I think it will need some starch though.  The other thing is to go over a glass ball as an ornament.....it's gonna be pretty and it'll sparkle.

Around the store I have a couple of photos I've taken recently....You can use the colors and textures to inspire your knitting.  Here are a couple more....  the first one is off the back porch at the store last week

Wouldn't a grey, brown and green shawl or scarf with fluffy bits of mohair be nice?

No learning group this week.  we'll resume at the beginning of the year if folks indicate an interest.

And there is new sparkley yarn - Gold Rush - that is completely good for ornaments.  I will be making some this evening for samples and it comes in Red, Green, Silver & Gold.   Oh boy, I get to play with beads too.

It is almost mitten time

These whip up in no time.  This is the big mitten class coming up too - Dec 3rd at 11 - two hours and you should have almost a whole mitten done.  Super bulky alpaca/wool or just wool yarn and #11 double point needles.  Never have cold hands again

This is the October Secret Scarf.....It was a long process, but I think worth it.....

November is already over, but December is open now.  It is Tuesday Dec 13 at 5 pm.  This one is different.  Bring your scraps and bits of yarn and a medium size needle.  We'll use them to create a one of kind scarf or cowl.  This is the last Secret Scarf class and is only $10. 

A nice little box came in today from Knitting Fever. It had RUFFLE YARNS!!! Several different kinds - different from what we've had before, more glitz, more softness, more fun. Ronda, Ondas, and Park Avenue (very yum) YEAH YEAH, doing happy dance.....

Want to use Fiber on your Christmas Tree?

Here's an idea.  This is the coral reef tree done by the Shelbyville Fiber Guild.  They took their theme from the coral reef display (the same one they brought to the Fiber in the Boro) and used it to decorate a tree for the Fly Art Center's annual Christmas Tree Display.  Isn't this fabulous?  And that mermaid - Wow.

Okay that's a little intimidating even for me, but adding fiber to your tree is a good idea.  If it is important to you, then naturally it should make an appearance.  Little knitted stockings and mittens, or fiber and bead covered balls (the perfect yarn for this is coming), crocheted stars, garland from ruffle yarn.  The possiblities are endless... 

This cowl is awesome

This is a free Plymouth pattern - originally intended for DeAire - one of their new yarns.  I did it in Baby Alpaca Grande Glow (yes there are sparkles) and it is wonderful.  It was quick and took two skeins.

Also in is the new Noro Accessories book.  It will not be on sale on Black Friday - it likely will even be out by then anyway.  It is REALLY GOOD!  It's what I will be knitting from tonight....

 

More Raggi

There's more colors of Raggi, the popular worsted weight sock  yarn.  I have also been told that the Christmas colors are gone from the warehouse - I have a few skeins left of them and they are the last ones in the area.  Here are some of the new colors and my CRAZY CHRISTMAS SOCKS.  I got bored and decided on the cuffs that Iwould change stitches when the colors changed and I had a tiny bit left when I bound off so they have curls and a flower too.

I saw this scarf and had to make it - so I am crocheting a lot again.  It is a free pattern on Ravelry - Queen Anne's Lace and is pretty easy - I was done in a little over 3 hours.

You could learn to crochet this next weekend in the beginning crochet class on Saturday. (One spot left).

Oh and we have new bags - They are $4.75 or free with $100 purchase.  There are some great deals this holiday season.  Bring in a new customer who makes a purchase and get 15% off your purchase that day.  I am working on the Black Friday Sale and I am thinking the first 30 customers get a free beaded stitch marker.  Make a purchase $50 or more on Black Friday and get a free bag. Also, Lorna from the VA just came and mentioned that they need hats & mittens for children of homeless vets.  So this is our charity knitting project for this year.  I will send out an email this week with more details.  But I can tell you that if you donate you get another drawing chance.  They need them by the 15th as well so the timing is perfect and you can start knitting.  The children are ages 2-14. And I have just added a mitten class to the schedule for December 3rd in big yarn....you could make them for the kids quick.

Mrs. Weasley's Lunch Bunch meets again on Friday at noon to work on our crocheted Mrs. Weasley's Sweaters.

The KFI Rep was here with fabulous things, there's a bit of it coming...(Sorry, Karen, I ordered some)Oh my.....

I've got the crochet bug again and am doing some interesting scarves - pictures next week.

Knitting 101 starts Thursday. This is the last one before next year. You could still make everyone scarves for Christmas! Give me a call on Thursday if you want in - there are two spots left.
