ONE MORE DAY OF THE SALE!  iT ENDS SATURDAY.

I have added another afghan square of the month class to the calendar -  Friday January 27th at 3 pm.  If anyone wants to switch times from the Tuesday class, let me know.  There will be room for 9 people in that class.

We are having an After Christmas Crazy Sale.  The store is so packed with yarn and fiber that in places there are only small paths to pass through and it is making me a little crazy. Almost everything in the store will be on sale from December 26th through 31st.  All yarns are buy two get one free for the week – this includes the ruffle and novelty yarns while they last. Books, patterns and leaflets are the same. I will also be loading up the clearance shelves and all those will be 45% off for that week.  Hand dyed Silk Scarves and hand woven scarves will be 20% off too.  Bags and baskets also will be discounted – Namaste bags will be 25% off, Janet baskets will be 15% off, the totes  and purses I have made will be 20% off.  Spinning Fiber is on sale too.  25% off any of it, even hand dyed silk hankies!

 Another bit of news is that we are doing the afghan square of the month club starting in January.  Each month is a new square that requires learning new skills and is perfect for anyone who wants to build new knitting skills.  You only have to know how to knit and purl.  I have a sample of the last one here at the store, but there may be a few changes in this one.  Each class is $5 and is a one hour how to class on that month’s pattern.  Cascade 220 is perfect for this afghan, but several years ago people did it in Cascade 128, organic cotton and llama, so whatever yarn you prefer is okay.  Some squares will be two colors, some solids. Using Cascade 220 the pattern will make a 36x48” afghan. Want it bigger?  Make more squares.  The first one is Tuesday January 24^th at 4:30.

Happy Christmas Everyone

Here is the last minute, omg I forgot something list of things to get.
A set of interchangeable needles
A piece of vintage jewelry
A basket or stocking full of gadgets (needle gauge, stitch markers, row counter, samples of wool wash, cool buttons, a hand dyed silk hankie to knit from, and rosewood needles.
A sock book, yarn and needles, all in a knitting bag
A felting kit and book
Dyes and some dyeable yarn or fiber
A hand made drop spindle
A basic knitting book and knitting 101 class gift certificate
A skein of hand spun yarn.......

There came from the Brown Santa (UPS) today: A bag of purple Triana - ruffle yarn - and a black & white Aloha - loopy yarn. These are quick to knit and everyone seems to love them. The Aloha (there are three colors here) doesn't even require knitting - just simple finger chaining will get you a fun scarf in minutes.

 

And yes we are open tomorrow from 10-3 for last minute shopping.

How about a knitted beaded necklace

We have little kits for that and they would knit up pretty quickly.  It'd be a change from knitting hats and scarves and be really pretty.  If you are not up for kits, there is new beaded yarn - silk & merino, that has beads in it already.  Another idea is to make one of those scarves that is basically just yarn tied together.....It uses up stash....here's one Lisa made.

Another gift idea

One non knitters would like, something that doesn't require making cause I already did that for you....Hand made scarves are for sale here too.  A few knitted ones, Many hand woven scarves and shawls and some hand dyed silk scarves too.   It is still hand made, each is unique and already done for you for that special person on your list.

There's still time to knit things

These little mittens are fun for little ones.  The pattern in on Ravelry of course.  Or Watson's scarf.  We went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie last night (go, it's good) and Watson had a hand knit scarf.  I am sure the pattern will be out there soon if it isn't already.  But it is a basic 1x1 rib, and brown blue and cream stripes.

How about sport weight Cascade

Knitted or crocheted toys are always fun too.  There are several books of patterns for those here.

Today's Gift Idea!
How about a great basket or bag for your favorite knitter. We have baskets, cute totes, one of a kind hand made bags or leather knitting bags as well as little accessory pouches.

Today's gift suggestion......A gift certificate that can be used for a yarn, notions or a class. Maybe someone you know wants to learn to knit - there's a Knitting 101 class starting again in January, as well as Knitting 102, and 200- you could enroll them in a class or give them a gift certificate so they can sign themselves up.

But Thursday would be the last chance at getting a spinning wheel or loom here before the holidays.  I keep knitter's looms in stock but spinning wheels and the larger looms have to be shipped from the west coast so order today for delivery before Christmas.

Oh and yesterday was cowls....here's one I made this morning between customers.  1 skein, the pattern is free with purchase of Souffle by Berrocco....easy easy easy!
