And how about cowls?

Cowls are still hot and so practical.  The right one can go with lots of things and keeps your neck warmer, plus you can cover your head too if you need to.  There are lots of cowl patterns here but really, casting on for any scarf pattern, making it shorter and adding a button hole for a fancy button or just getting a nice pin to go with it is a quick and easy present.  I once knitted a whole cowl on the way to Christmas dinner - in less than 90 minutes.  I needed one - and didn't have anything that color.

 

#3 is books

Knitting books or magazines are a fun gift.  Then pick a project out of them and get the yarn or a gift certificate to go with it.  Interweave has a $5 rebate you can get for any of their projects.  Go to the website, print it out, send in your receipt and get a rebate.

Or...Do you know someone who knits washclothes?  A lot of little books just came in from the Brown Santa (UPS) Washclothes, ornaments....okay that's another one make ornaments for the folks.  Here's mine 

Gift Idea #2

Noro!  The new Noro Knits Accessories book is in and has really nice projects ranging from beginning to advanced.  There is plenty of Noro in the store to add with the book too. 

If you have never knit with Noro yarns, try it.  They are the ones many other yarn companies try to copy.  No one else can quite get their colors right.  They are a joy to knit with.  There also a couple of smaller Noro books available as well.

The newsletter is going out today and I have put most of January and some February classes up.  Also please remember that next week is the deadline (Dec 14th) for getting your hats and mittens in for the homeless children.  We've gotten some hats and scarves, a few mittens would be good too.  And you get an extra gift registration when you bring something in.  I will be drawing for these on the 15th.  I've decided to spread the wealth with several smaller gifts rather than one big basket.  So your chances of winning are better.

Gift Ideas

Every day between now and Christmas (that I am here anyway) I will try to post an idea or two for gifts for the holidays. 

Here is my idea for today......How about a little sampler basket of fiber for your favorite spinner.  We have many different kinds of spinning fiber at the store.  Most spinners, new ones especially, would love to try out just a bit of different kinds of sheep and other animals.  I've been spinning a long time and still would love this.  An ounce or two of 5 or more fibers is a nice little introduction to the wide variety of fibers out there.  Just come and pick your fibers or let me know a bit ahead of time and I'll pick out some for you. 

Want a little more:  add some combs or a niddy noddy to the basket and you'll have a happy spinner (and they might even spin you some yarn).
