It has little felted balls in the yarn...it won't be too long.  But these are here now....

It is all about sparkle and dazzle and frills this season.  So there is this.  A little more ruffle yarn is coming and some Fancy Eyelash....It's all so yummy....

Look at this

This Catkin - brought in by a customer and it is lovely.  We both started it back this summer as a knit along and she finished it.  I, on the other hand am only at the top of the light colored part.  It is a fun knit but I am rarely able to sit and concentrate on one thing, so it is slow going.

Knitalong!

At Fiber in the Boro I ran into Phyllis H. who I had not seen in a while.  She is a wonderful knitter and spinner from Nashville...anyway she had on a gorgeous shawl made from her hand spun yarns.  Turns out it was her yarns made from fibers she had purchased at the last couple of years of Fiber Festivals...Christine and I both wanted one and decided on a knitalong.  We'll be using our hand spun yarns to create unique works of art.  This starts in Friday group and anyone is welcome to join us.  You can use your handspun, or your hand dyed yarns or just a bunch of leftovers from your many projects.  Phyllis said she'd come to group with the shawl so we can all be inspired again.  Friday 5-7.  Here's just a teaser photo Christine took of the shawl.

Store Prize Awards

Yesterday folks who stopped by the booth at Fiber in the Boro got to register for prizes at the store.

Fiber in the Boro was fabulous yesterday.  

There were some fantastic booths full of fiber, yarn, finished objects and fun things.  I went in swearing I would not buy fiber for spinning and that lasted about an hour.  I just had to have a few things.  

 

Also yesterday in the booth were the samples of our new Exclusive colorways of store yarns.  There is The Knaughty Knitter yarn....you can imagine - pink and black.  I was a little hesitant to order that but Rain came through amazingly on this one.  It is gorgeous!  There is another colorway as well - I named it Eureka for one of my favorite places on the north California coast as well as a TV show I love.  It glows under a black light (and a little in the dark too). I will get the first delivery of a few of each in mid November.  These are hand painted by Rain of Rain's Obsessvie Stitchery - who has an Etsy shop, but also whose yarns we carry a bit of.  She is a wonderful dyer in Nashville.  They'll be in the store this week anyway for advance viewing - you can also place advance orders at that time. I will have The Knaughty Knitter one in and out because I will be developing a store sock pattern to go with it.

 

Mummy is unhappy

Red Bear is not very happy to be prematurely mummified and put on display in the front window. Red Bear is not pleased at all that he wasn't allowed to go to Fiber in the 'Boro http://www.fiberintheboro.com/when-and-where , so he's staging a big Red Bear Revenge sale at the store, today and today only. Come by to see what is on sale. (Saturday, October 20, 2012)

A little while later....

Red Bear, the Evil Revengeful Mummy, is slashing prices by 20% on books and cotton yarn today! When The Knaughty Knitter is away, the Mummy will get his revenge.....

Fiber in the Boro Tomorrow! No Group Tonight!

We will be closing at 5 tonight to pack up.  We'll be at the Fiber in the Boro all day tomorrow but the store will be open with Robin and Karen Womaning the place.  Why not stop both places - you never know what mischief Red Bear will get up to with Karen and Robin. He has been growling at the front of the store about being wrapped up like a mummy for everyone to see..... And stop by our booth at the festival too - you can enter a drawing there for some Store Prizes - there are door prizes at the festival too.

This was a Ravelry pattern Kathy Kelly's Cabled Cape.  It was fun and interesting to do, the techniques were a bit different on the cables.

Lisa has been quilling...She is going to teach class in it.  Yes it is paper, but paper can be made of fibers....anyway the Quilled Christmas Card class is in November.

 There will not be Friday Night Group this week due to the Fiber in the Boro.

Fiber in the Boro & Other Things

Most of you know Fiber in the Boro is next Saturday from 10-5 at the Agriculture Center (where the farmer's market is on Fridays).  Class registrations will be open through this weekend but are closing on Monday.  If you were wanting to take a class, register this weekend.  There are some great ones available - Felting, Quilting, Spinning, Knitting and more.  Spinners with their own wheels can take private lessons with Lynne Vogel - She is an awesome teacher and great person who is an incredible spinner as well as knitter and weaver and crocheter, felter, designer...

This weekend and all next week we are running a special at the store.  Come check out the loose patterns in the binders and pick one (or more).  Buy the yarn for your project and get the pattern free.

Pictures

These are all new yarns that have come in recently.  Most are bulky or super bulky so now that it is getting cold they are great for mittens and hats and cowls.

Here's a closeup of a hat I started yesterday with one of the new yarns.  I had some folks intrigued in group last night with the beginnings of it.  It is a little different.

This is Jewel, a hand painted wool yarn from Cascade.  

This is Casablance, Cascade's answer to Noro Silk Garden.  It stripes too, similar fiber content, but less $$$ since the yardage is so much more.  The colors are very different too.
