I have just finished the pattern for this:

WOO HOO!

I got in some roving.....well LOTS of Roving, mostly Merino, lots of colors.  Just in time for Saturday's needle felting class (3 spaces left so call me now if you want to make the Three Wise Gnomes for your mantel)

And there are new needle sets from Chiao Goo - The new Red Twist Sets are here.  I only have the full sets at the moment - all the needles from 2-15 and 6 cords, cute stitch markers, needle gauge, winding/locking keys, joiners for longer cords - all in a great little case.  

And I am putting up the new Superwash worsted weight wool from Ella Rae this afternoon.  24 colors and I am determined to find it some shelf space.......

AND WE ARE PLANNING ON CLOSING FOR INVENTORY ON SUNDAY.  WE ARE DOING IT A LITTLE EARLY AND WILL BE HERE BUT CAN' BE OPEN WHILE WE ARE WORKING ON THAT.  WE WILL OPEN MONDAY MORNING AS USUAL.

We are almost through

getting into those big boxes that came from Knitting Fever. I've moved some things around of course. 

But in the depths of the boxes were novelty yarns....the most yummy eyelash yarn I have seen in a long time, more ladder yarn - metallic this time, some with little bits of fiber on them, similar to Crystal Palace's Little Flowers yarn.  There are new colors of Kureyon and Taiyo and new Noro books Jenny Watson Designs Noro Now! and Jane Ellison's Noro Vintage (which is super awesome).

We are adding superwash worsted weight wool from Ella Rae as well and there are 24 colors.  They will be retailing for about $9.  Those will be out probably after the Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sale when I am hoping to have a bit of room for them.  

And about Black Friday - BIG BIG SALE!  - lots of yarns on sale, some even at 45% off.  Cascade 220 is 10% off too.  Friday we will be hiding Chief Red Bear in places and if you find him that yarn is 15% off for you. Plan to spend time browsing, books & magazines are on sale, loose patterns in the binders are 50% off..... 

Saturday the sale continues and we will also be giving away patterns with purchase.  Lisa, Karen and Robin have picked out some of their favorite quick gift patterns and you can pick from them.  Okay I did it too..... And there will be some time limited specials announced too.

Just another thing - we cannot wind your yarn this weekend.  It is just too hectic during a sale.

Our hours tomorrow will be shortened - we will be closing at 3.  We will be open from 9-3 on Friday and Saturday 10-4.

Robin's Great Gift of the Week

This looks like a fun knit too.  Get a supersoft yarn like Baby Alpaca DK and knit the scarf.  Felt it and then needle felt the design on.  It is from the book Folk Style that came out a few years ago.

Oh and Lisa made a "Corn Shock" out of the Manos that came in on Monday.  It is up now too

The colors are spectacular and the feel of the yarn is awesome.  I am knitting a shawl of a lovely purple.  

7 years and time to celebrate with Wool

For the seventh anniversary, traditional materials include  wool.  This could mean a 100% wool or a blend of wool, silk, alpaca, acrylic, nylon, or even cotton. Wool makes great garments and home decor items, such as hats, scarves, shawls, sweaters, mittens, gloves, jackets, blankets, and socks. We have all kinds of wool---Merino, BFL, Peruvian, and more.

Robin's Pick

for this week is a Lovely Little Tea Cozy.  You could get a fancy cup, some tasty teas and a pot and this handknitted cozy for a really fabulous gift that just says you want someone to be able to sit and relax.  And who doesn't want that?

Besides, don't these flowers just look fun to make?  The book is Tea Cozies and there lots more in there.

Entrelac scarf class is coming up...

I'm sure it's not gone unnoticed by some of our customers that I've published a couple of new books this year---one for 15 scarves and one for 18 cowls. Now all those patterns are all found on Ravelry and the books as .pdf documents are available on for sale through my Etsy Shop. For those of you far, far away, this is one way to obtain my published patterns. You will also find some of the patterns from the books (as well as others) available separately. In either case, you'll save a little bit by doing your own printing. We'll continue to print and sell hard copies in the shop of course. The Sky Scarf

A customer came in today and was talking about The Sky Scarf.  It is a very simple thing but is kind of a cool idea.  Basically you are keeping a record of the sky for the year through knitting.  You look outside and see what the sky is like every day for a year - always a good idea anyway to get outside every day.  And you knit 1 row of your scarf in corresponding colors.  So if you go out in the morning and it is partly cloudy, you'd pick a white and blue, knit them together into that day's row.  Stormy weather - a light and dark grey, full on sunshine - two blues, or maybe a blue and yellow for the sunshine.  You can mix it up a little.  Mary decided she would use a purple on special days - like her birthday, or holidays.  You could decide to "code" your colors if you don't love blue.  Make all light blues orange, dark blue a red, grey a black, etc to give yourself a more colorful scarf.  Or be sure that the time of day you look out is during sunset and use those colors.  At the end of the year you have 365 days of scarf that hardly took you any effort and is a cool thing to show off.  Mary said that she knows there are days she won't even have time to knit one row and so is keeping a calendar on which she will mark the colors of the day.  Then if you get a block of time (say at the monthly Sky Scarf Meetup here) you can do them all.
