The trunk show is here and it is fabulous! A trunk show is when a yarn company sends samples of their patterns and kits along with a ton of yarn to a store for a while. Great Adirondack has Truly Fabulous samples. The yarns are all hand painted, full of colors and textures and a simple pattern blooms into something incredibile with their yarns.

Candy - that I ordered back in October finally came in
There are several colors. It is a wool acrylic blend, nice and soft with fun felted balls in it.

A customer brought in some interesting samples today. These are two items with the same yarn and stitch pattern - just a different needle size
The first is with a larger needle
This one is the same pattern with smaller needles and done flat rather than in the round
Both are beautiful, just different.
More new Yarn
These are Bombay and Jaipur - Beautiful new self striping luscious cotton from Katia. I rarely knit with cotton and don't usually love it - these I do love and am making a shawl which I hope will be finished next week.
Here's a Shawlette I have been working on for a while and it is finally done. It was fun and the pattern is well written and innovative, but got a little tedious after a while in the small yarn. The yarn I used was yummy - Ella Rae Merino Lace - an hand dyed light fingering in really rich colors. I know someone did it in worsted weight yarns and got it done much faster. I may make it again some time and do that. The pattern is "Leftie" and is available on Ravelry.
Then there are these....cute quick slippers in Raggi (their pattern - it is a doable but not easy to read the pattern for a beginner). Maybe you could carry your knitting in them and then wear 'em when you got where you were going?

Okay they haven't met yet. Monkey is busy exploring and playing in the yarn. Red Bear is sitting in the window getting grumpy.
One Finished object down for February...only about 15 to go. ..
is a realtively new yarn from Cascade and this was first chance I got to knit with it. It feels really good and knits up really quickly too. This cowl is a free Ravelry pattern - Layer Cake Loop - and it took two skeins.
Here is a weaving sampler I did yesterday. I sat in my pjs and wove all morning. This is the sample for the weaving class coming up in April. You can choose other colors but we'll be doing this so that you learn a lot of different weaving patterns (it's easier than it sounds). I changed the class format a bit - it is now two days not one. That gives you a chance to absorb more and helps out those with sore backs too.

Okay, really I finished it yesterday but still. It is the Phyllis Shawl that some of us started after the Fiber in the Boro. It is made of my handspun yarns and jsut randomly added with random stitches.
