Small Business Satruday Sale

On Small Business Saturday we'll do some things a little differently.  Doyle likes Dutch auctions - where the price keeps going down but you might lose out if you wait too long.  So we are doing a sort of thing like that here.  All Cascade yarns in stock are starting off at 10% off in the morning and by 3:00 will be at 50% off but the choices will be a bit more limited by then.

Hourly specials will be happening too and some of the yarns will be on sale.  The clearance shelf will be 45% off that day only.

Black Friday/Small Business Saturday Sales

Black Friday Sales start at 9am.  Many yarns and some accessories will be on sale.  The clearance shelf will be 40% off and there will be spotlight sales during the day.  We will have a pot of hot spiced apple cider and some cookies for you to refresh yourself with after a hard morning of shopping like mad.  Come in for a bit more relaxed atmosphere after the chaos. Oh and at 2pm all yarns in the store will be 10% off.

During both days there will be store samples on sale - you could get a handmade gift for someone on your list without having to do all the work to make it.

Class Calendar

I making some adjustments on the class schedule for next year.  Check 'em out on the calendar page.  Wayne is still teaching beginning classes and has a hat class next month too.  But starting next month weaving will be working a little differently.  Several people have asked for loom rentals and so I have added something like that. ...

If you want to learn to weave now there's no waiting for a class!  Sometimes folks feel really rushed with the current format of 2 2hr sessions. And things don't stick in your brain with so little time and I want folks to be able to weave after.  SO, for individual weaving lessons, you can do it this way:  Pick your day and time during our open hours to come in and use the looms and get lessons.  For a 1 month use of looms and help getting started, it works like this

Loom rental for a month - $30 - this means that anytime during regular hours that there is not a class going on you can come in and weave on your project.  We have several different sizes of looms0 available. I am hoping to get the 8 harness table loom into this too later this year.

Teaching time is by the hour @ $30/hour.  This time should be scheduled ahead so that I am really available.  For this, if you have your own loom, you can just bring it with you.

Weaving for Fun is still available too - we'll warp the loom for you and you come weave.  The only change is that you have a week to use the 3 hours of weaving time for your project.  You pay the cost of the warp you have chosen and $30 for the class. 

This gives you some flexibility - you can come in for the basics or advanced lessons at your leisure.  You could just rent the loom so you can make gifts or come in to learn a specific technique

For groups who want to learn to weave or learn advanced techniques, call to schedule and set it up.

This is woven with cotton and wool yarns, some felted, cotton didn't.  Got ruffles!

We do Layaway!

If you are wanting a loom or spinning wheel, or carder that can be a bit much to get all at once.  We will do layaway for you.  You can do it 2 ways.  Either a real layaway plan - 90 days or less if you want, make weekly payments and pick your item up when you are done.  Or a creative customer came up with this one - buy yourself gift cards and save them up - you have two years to spend them on your big purchase and that way anyone who wants to can give you a gift card contributing to your item. If you change your mind you still have gift cards to spend on yarn or whatever.  ....Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier......

 

Beginning Weaving

Class starts Saturday Nov 15 and continues on the 22nd.  This is the last one for the year (though I will happily do individual lessons too)  If you want to just come in and weave a bit to see if you like it, Weaving for Fun will be the 22nd as space permits.  For this we will warp the loom for you and you just come in a weave.

Tis the season

for big cowls.  Here is one I really love wearing, made from 2 sk. Brown Sheep's Burly Spun yarn. 
The cream is the softest - the dyeing process makes the wool a tiny bit less soft.

There are several big yarns at the store, knit them on everything from a size 15 to a #200 (yes there is such a thing)

Oldie but Goodie

This is a poncho I made back when I first opened the store in 2005. I was sorting through the coat closet the other day and found it, cleaned it and I will be wearing it this winter.  It is a pattern from an old Cast On magazine Fall 2005.  I used a lot of stash and some handspun and lots of things with texture.  I think I still love it.

  

I continue to go through the back issues I have stashed in back and there are more out.  All back issues are $1.00 this month.

This is Stella

I she is wonderful to knit with - so much that I have made a hat and mittens.  This is a new this Fall yarn from Plymouth and just very nice.

And oh yeah - that cowl is my pattern out of Baby Grande Alpaca. The pattern is available in my Ravelry store and is called Big Soft Squishy Cowl.
